Greensburg, KS tornado damage

I drove through Greensburg, Kansas last night. I didn’t realize where we were and I was just wondering why the speed limit dropped to 30. When I saw the tents and flood lights set up I thought they were for flood evacuations. Then my wife pointed out the destruction all around and we realized this was the town nearly wiped off the map on May 5, 2007. It was well after dark so we couldn’t see much, but it was amazing. And right in the middle the liquor store looked untouched.

I guess DigitalGlobe provided tactical satellite imagery to the rescuers – I think that is incredibly interesting. I have no doubt that will be huge in the future.
