At the U.S. Chess Championship

We went to the Frank K. Berry 2007 U.S. Chess Championship this week. I’ve never played tournament chess or even been to a chess tournament but my daughter has renewed my interest in chess and it was exciting to walk around and watch the best players in the country at work. We talked to them after it was over, then she played a quick game in the lobby with her friend so I can say I got to watch her play at the national championship.

Five out of the eighteen Grand Masters there were named Alexander and yet when someone yelled “Hey Alex come here” only one person even looked up.
